Tonight I went to the Aero Theater in Santa Monica to an American Cinematheque screening of Mel Brooks’ Blazing Saddles and History of the World, Part I. Seeing Blazing with a packed crowd was a blast, and Mel spoke in between the two films. He’s 81, but sharp as a tack, and still damn funny. History was okay, not as good as I remembered it being. Since it’s broken up into little sketches and segments, it’s lacking a necessary plot narrative. Ah well, it’s still good to be the king!
