Last night I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the “Something Something Something Dark Side” premiere party at Seth MacFarlane’s “Winter Wonderland”, in the Hollywood hills.  The movie, which comes out on video next week, is the “Family Guy” parody of The Empire Strikes Back.  The night was going to be pretty cool, and the only problem was the rain – there were torrential downpours in the Los Angeles area.  Luckily, there were lots of tents and covered …

Created a brand new website for composer Ron Jones, who has been working hard on “Family Guy” as well as his Influence Jazz Orchestra live performances.  His old site hadn’t been update since 2004(!) and so it was a complete rescrubbing and simplification that was necessary to bring him back up-to-date. The highlight of the site is the “Listen” section, which contains over 3.5 hours of audio, all databased and fully browsable.  Future enhancements will include a “search” capability!

Influence at Charlie O's

Composer Ron Jones hired me to take photos of his new Jazz Orchestra, “Influence”, at their performance at Charlie O’s Jazz Club tonight.  The venue was really small, and I wish I had brought earplugs – it was lound!  But the music was boistrous and fun. Lots of great big-band standards, as well as a few new pieces. There were a few Frank Sinatra tunes played, sung by “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane, who definitely has the voice for it. …
