I went with Timo and saw Minority Report tonight, the first really entertaining Steven Spielberg film since Jurassic Park. The futuristic noir setting is fully detailed and elaborate, and the intriguing mystery kept me rivited for almost the entire film. It did start to lag a little bit towards the end, but overall this is a really fun and interesting film.
I can’t really hoot and holler about John Williams’ score. Sure, he does some really good action stuff that he’s not done this well since the early 1980s, and he’s got a pleasant theme, but for the most part, it’s just musical wallpaper. I didn’t leave with any sense of “I gotta get that soundtrack!!”. Still, this is one heck of a summer movie, that should appeal to almost all audiences. (No small children, please.)
