After packing up, I went to breakfast with my parents and grandmother at Yotvata-In-Town, the Tel Aviv branch of the Yotvata Kibbutz restaurant. The breakfast item of choice: bagel toast. These aren’t your ordinary bagels. These are like rings of soft, light dough, covered in sesame seeds, that when toasted are like heaven on a place… cause they’re covered with bulgarian cheese and a few other things…. and it’s just oh-so-scrumptious. Jody managed to join us towards the end, and then we headed on back to the hotel to finish packing and head on out. Mom and grandma were heading up to a spa in Haifa, so dad and I got in the car, and headed out of town. Direction: south.
We had been driving for a while, headed towards Beer Sheva, when I noticed what seemed to be a cloud resulting from an explosion off in the distance. It even had a bit of flame from the fireball…. I snagged my camera, and took a picture. When we got closer, the cloud had dissipated a little, and we had no idea what it was. We kept driving, intending to stop at the Mitzpeh Ramon Crater for a late lunch. But before we got there, we hit Avdat.
