John Williams at the Hollywood Bowl

Scheller came on over from Riverside, and we hung out for a bit before heading on over to the Hollywood Bowl. Tonight was the annual John Williams concert! As I was informed we didn’t get comp parking, I had an alternate plan, one which mirrored what John and I did last year: park at the Universal Metro stop in the valley, and take the subway to Hollywood and Highland. From there we would walk up the Cahuenga pass to the Bowl. And that is exactly what we did. Turns out our seats were kinda in the nosebleed section, but hey – who am I to complain about free stuff? (Shaddup – you know who you are!)

The concert itself was pretty standard – Williams is conducting at a slower pace than he used to, so things were a little long at times, and not as punchy. But it was still cool see James Earl Jones narrate the Grand Suite from Star Wars, even if he spoke every classic quote except his own. Three encores later, we were off, back to the subway, and back to the car. It was a long night, and I have to leave early in the morning for Vegas!
