Tonight I went with Adam to the Edgemar Center for the Arts in Santa Monica to see soloist Lisbeth Scott perform selections of her music, as well as promote her new album “Passionate Voice” (thanks to Ray Costa). Lisbeth is probably most famously known (lately) as the soloist on the soundtrack to The Passion of the Christ (as well as the singing voice of Fiona in Shrek – she can explode birds with her voice). The performance venue was a small studio theater with about 150 people in attendence – it was a packed house, standing room only! Luckily we got decent seats even though we arrived a little late. Lisbeth started out a little rusty, but quickly warmed up to the crowd and by the end of the third encore, everyone was taken with her. Her songs were great – laid back and contemporary, and wholesome and positive. No negativity at all!
Afterwards, a bunch of us (including Lisbeth) went to the World Cafe for drinks. Of course, I had to have a Blue Hawaiian, since that’s my new drink of choice this month (apparently). It was a really nice time, and when she goes on tour with John Debney later this year for their Passion of the Christ tour, I’ll be sure to check it out and report back!
