Today I went to Warner Brothers for a scoring session for an animated short film: “Tom and Jerry”. Yes, they’re back! And even cooler – this one was done by the original: Joseph Barbera. Directed by Tony Cervone and Spike Brandt, of “Duck Dodgers” fame, the look and feel of the animation was old-school. The humor and timing was perfect. And the music, well, since Scott Bradley is long gone, they got the next best thing: wunderkind composer Michael Giacchino. He NAILED it. It was really awesome to see, and I filmed about 80 minutes of scoring session footage for Michael. I don’t actually HAVE the footage, but hopefully I’ll be able to edit something down for him, ala the Fantastic Four DVD. In any case, I can’t wait for this new short film…. whenever and wherever it ends up being showed! (The photos are up!)
