Jerusalem

Dan Israel (2006)

After a late lunch, we headed into the Old City through the Zion Gate. Our time in the Old City of Jerusalem wasn’t very long, since we spent most of the day working our way around the area, but we did go into the Cardo (the old central road), then worked our way through a tad of the Muslim Quarter towards the Western Wall – just as everyone was breaking their fast for Ramadan. Good timing? Not sure.

In any case, when we got to the Western Wall, we saw a lot of border police and IDF forces. Apparently tonight and tomorrow is the “high point” of Ramadan, and they’re expecting riots. You know, the usual – the imams get the listeners at the mosque on the Temple Mount all riled up, and then they go throw rocks and stuff at the Jews praying below.

By the time we left, it was about 7pm, and we needed to head on back to Tel Aviv. It doesn’t seem like we did all that much today, but we’re all quite tired!
