Once is a very interesting independent film. Filmed in 16-days in Dublin, Ireland, the film follows an Irish street performer and his relationship with a Slovakian immigrant who encourages him to take musical risks. She’s married (her husband is still overseas), so there is no romance to the film, but it’s about strong friendships and it’s quite a musical feast. All of the songs were original, and sung (more or less) live on film. I don’t have much more to add about this – it was a very well done film, and has a super-low-budget look and feel. But the songs are very good, and speak to the emotional state of the characters, and it’s worth checking out.
