The rum cake was, to put it mildly, a success. It was used as a birthday cake (there are three birthdays around Thanksgiving), and I was worried that it might burst into flame – the rum was still pretty wet.
The glaze had seeped into the cake quite nicely, making it rather moist and rummy, but not overly-so. Certainly not enough to get drunk off of, but you could definitely feel the alcohol.
It seemed to be pretty popular, and there’s only a little bit left to take back home – but I doubt any of it will get to Los Angeles; I’m still here for almost 5 more days, and will try to share it with my friends I’ll be seeing.
