I need to start putting together the second volume of my “Scoring in Los Angeles” photo book, for the RMA. The tricky part will be, as before, to figure out which photos to use. I just have waaay too many of them. But I want to use as many candids of the musicians as possible. Something to show their personalities and/or situations that they deal with.
Here’s a photo I took at a recent session that I really like – it’s percussionist Don Williams waiting for a cue to finish recording. The entire orchestra was tacet, except for two harps, two pianos and a cello – for two hours. There’s something about it that just seems funny yet natural. I like it.
