Airport Preserve Woes / Flight Back to Los Angeles

Dan Nashville (2009)

We left the dam, to head to the airport, but before we did, I managed to get a nice picture of the thunderstorm clouds off in the distance.

We got to the airport around 4:30pm, so we had a little time before the flight. There was a chance that we might have had to check a bag, but we managed to get everything set up as carry-on.  Unfortunately, it turns out that the peach preserves I bought at Loveless aren’t exactly TSA/FAA approved.  And that really sucked.  The TSA agent was really nice about it too – she definitely felt my pain, and said that if it wasn’t Sunday that she would have mailed them to me.  Oh well, easy come, easy go.  Luckily, they did have some Loveless peach preserves at the gift shop in the airport (once you get beyond the security gate). It cost a little more than it did at the shop, but it still cost less than if I had opted for mail-order from Los Angeles!

The flight back to LA was pretty uneventful. After take-off, once we got above the rainy weather, there were some great looking clouds.

After the sun set, I pretty much fell asleep for about two hours.  I apparently missed seeing some pretty cool lightning in the clouds below us, which is too bad – but sleep was good! I had just pulled out my laptop to start playing a bit of Freecell when the pilot announced that we were approaching LA for landing.

We landed about 20 minutes earlier than we were supposed to, and I was home by 8:30pm. Now it’s time to do laundry, and get a lot of stuff done this week – I’m off to the Skywalker Ranch on the 28th!
