Crimewave (cancelled)

Dan Goldwasser Video Projects

Argh. What a collosal waste of time. Items: – 1 Japanese Laserdisc of Crimewave. Full frame, English, with burned-in Japanese subtitles – 1 German PAL DVD of Crimewave. Full frame, German, no subtitles. Goal: Convert the PAL video track to NTSC, and add on the English language track from the Japanese laserdisc. Result: FAILURE Reason: German censors decided to edit the film. As such, after digitizing the audio from the Japanese laserdisc (90 minutes), moving it to the main computer …

Psycho

Dan Goldwasser Video Projects

A small project before Crimewave – put the isolated score from the laserdisc onto the Psycho DVD. Done!

DD #1

Dan Goldwasser Video Projects

So not only did I finish up with The Game Disc 2, but I decided to spend a little time this weekend clearing off some older projects. As a result, I put together my first Digital Domain DVD, from Messrob’s archives. Disc 1 contains The Grinch and What Dreams May Come. I’m rather proud with the result, and think I created a nice template that can be used for the other discs.

The Game

Dan Goldwasser Video Projects

After a long day at work, all I wanted to do was go home, and relax on the computer and totally veg out. Instead, my cable modem was down again. Adelphia will be coming over this afternoon to see what the deal is, so hopefully this will get resolved. So what did I do last night? I did The Game. Having finished Disc 1 on Wednesday, I just plowed ahead with Disc 2! Capturing the footage from the Laserdisc was …

Halloween

Dan Goldwasser Video Projects

After a few months of delays, I finally finished up (i.e. redid) the 2nd disc of Halloween, combining the Criterion Laserdisc supplements with the Anchor Bay Divimax supplements. Whew. Now I can check that one off the (long) list, and move on to the next Laserdisc conversion project: The Game!

1983

Dan Goldwasser Video Projects

Earlier last week, I digitized (finally) two of the four VHS tapes that I had been sent a few months ago. These were home movies from 1983, and included some seminal moments from my childhood, including my 8th birthday party, my Pinewood Derby competition, family BBQs and functions, and more! It ended up being about 5 hours of footage, and so I broke it up into 5 DVDs (1 hour each) so as to maintain archival quality. Of great importance …

40 Hours of B-Roll

Dan Goldwasser Video Projects

Went to lunch with Edgar, Dave and Alex today, for our “routine” Sunday brunch. Afterwards, Edgar gave me a bag of miniDV tapes of B-Roll footage for Bobby Unser Jr.’s demo reel, which I’m working on. 60 tapes. 40 minutes each. That’s a lot of footage to screen!! Some of it is rather fast – nothing to snag on the tape, so I’ll just skim through them until I see something neat. This should be a kick-ass project!

Demo Reel Madness

Dan Goldwasser Video Projects

Started working on the demo reel for Jim Dooley. That means ripping footage from a slew of DVDs, and getting them into an editable format. Not the most straightforward (or fast) way, but the end result is a nice 16×9 image that will look good in the final product! Should really start to check into it next week when my hard drive arrives (500GB!!)

Carina's Reel

Dan Goldwasser Video Projects

Thursday night, I got a call from Ben who said he had a friend who was in desperate need of an acting reel, pronto. So, Carina came by and we digitized the footage she had. It wasn’t much, so I had a bit of editing to do! Friday night I worked on it, and then this morning she came back to finalize it all. I think it turned out pretty good, since I basically created edited scenes from raw dailies! …

Project Update

Dan Goldwasser Video Projects

Okay, so here’s a bunch of stuff I’m working on these days: I’m in the middle of the Jebco Productions DVD, and should be finishing it up in the next week or so. It’s got 45-50 minutes of video, and will have a clean and simple interface. On Sunday at a rough cut screening of Dodgeball, I talked with Tim Johnson and Jason Mercer about the Terry Tate, Office Linebacker DVD. I then met with Tim on tuesday, and we …
