Although we couldn’t announce it at the time, the truth of the matter is, we were working on The Matrix Revolutions immediately after completion (and prior to release!) on The Matrix Reloaded. The source for this expanded soundtrack came, like the preceding title, from Don Davis’ own personal ProTools archive. That yielded us the highest quality elements to use for the project. And like with Reloaded, music editor Zig Gron was incredibly helpful in getting us any Juno Reactor sources that weren’t in Don’s archive, …
The Matrix Reloaded
I’ve known composer Don Davis for years, having first met him when I interviewed him about The Matrix in 1999, and subsequently building his website. When The Matrix Reloaded came up as a project, I immediately jumped at the chance to work to bring this amazingly complex and awesome score to the fans. (Yea, there’s a bootleg, from Don’s 2003 promo, but it’s not the same and doesn’t sound as good.) The big question for this project would be, however, if we …
A Symphony of Hope: The Haiti Project
Just launched the website for A Symphony of Hope: The Haiti Project. The brainchild of composer Christopher Lennertz, the idea was to take 25 film composers and create a symphonic work based on a traditional Haitian melody. Proceeds from sales of the resulting album will be sent to the Hands Together charity to benefit Haitian earthquake victims. I built the site with a WordPress framework, and heavily modified a pre-existing template. The biggest challenge on the site was to connect …
Rio de Sangre 2.0 / Don Davis
Ok, the new Rio de Sangre website is now live. I think it’s a much more interesting design than the previous one, with a more malevolent and darker tone, befitting the violent opera. I also redid the website for composer Don Davis to update it with a slicker more professional display.
Rio de Sangre v1.5
Launched a redesign of a site I did back in 2004. This one is for the opera being composed by Don Davis, Rio de Sangre. It’s a simple and clean update (didn’t take too long) but just enough to make it expandable when the opera goes wide. Update: Okay, call it “Rio de Sangre v1.5”, since I am now told by Don that he wants more of a design change. So look for this to be updated over the next …
Rio De Sangre
Yesterday I met with Don Davis and we talked about filling out information for the website for his opera, Rio De Sangre. Well, less than 36 hours later, the site is done! And it uses newfangled CSS and stuff! Check it out!
The Matrix Revolutions
Let’s see, where did we leave off? Neo is in a coma after somehow being able to stop sentinels in the real world with his mind. The machines are digging towards Zion. Smith has entered the “real world” in the form of Bane. Oh yeah – and most of the audience members who saw The Matrix Reloaded were feeling a combination of confusion, frustration, and disappointment. So where does that leave us with The Matrix Revolutions? Matt and I went …
The Matrix Reloaded
Okay, so it’s one of the most anticipated films of the summer. Is it worth the hype? More specifically – was it worth the wait? (And by wait, I mean the waiting I had to do last night at Warner Brothers, not the wait for the film to come out.) Jeff and I got to Warner Brothers around 8pm, for the 9pm screening. They finally got us to the theater (on the lot) around 8:30. At which point we were …
