The Rest of the Story

Dan Goldwasser Boston

Not much to say about the rest of the trip; it was fun, I saw some friends, spent a lot of time with family (especially my nieces) and had a generally good time. The flight back to LA was uneventful.

Blissful Sleep

Dan Goldwasser Boston

Yay for earplugs – I got about 9 hours of sleep last night! Whew. Today I’m off to meet a high-school friend for brunch, and then it’s more family stuff – then tonight is the big Passover seder with all the family, cousins, etc. Except for one – Aaron is still in Israel in the IDF, so he’ll be missed!

Mid-morning Nap

Dan Goldwasser Boston

Nothing like a mid-morning nap to completely throw you off your battered schedule. Since I’ve been functioning on such little sleep today, it stands to reason that I would crash at some point. And it came at about 9:30am. Two hours later, we were off to Panera bread with everyone in tow for a light lunch, and then Target for some shopping – where I bought ear-plugs. Tonight i shall (hopefully) sleep!

Loud in Boston

Dan Goldwasser Boston

Flew back to Boston on Wednesday night; the flight was uneventful, and I was picked up by my parents at the airport. My older sister and brother-in-law were still awake when I got to the condo, so it was nice to see them. I wasn’t jetlagged, but I couldn’t fall asleep until 2am or so. I was woken up a few hours later by my nieces. Apparently they’re still on Israel time. And they’re loud. So cute though! Last night …

Burial in Boston

Dan Goldwasser Travel

There’s not much to write about the past few days. The burial was held in the same cemetery (actually only 3 rows back) from where my other grandfather is buried. It’s been a blurry few days, with a lot of visiting with family and whatnot. I did get a chance to break for lunch on Saturday with Sam and Josh, and we went to this pretty cool place called Parish Cafe, which features the best signature sandwiches from a lot …

JetBlue, Ft. Lauderdale, and JetBlue Again

Dan Goldwasser Travel

My flight to Ft. Lauderdale left at 9:20pm from Long Beach. It was a direct flight to Ft. Lauderdale, so that was convenient. I departed my apartment around 4:40pm, and it took until 6:45 or so to get down to the airport area. I snagged a bite to eat, then parked the car, checked in, went through security, and hung out at the gate. The flight itself was actually really nice – JetBlue is definitely an ace airline. Very friendly …

Ft. Lauderdale / Boston

Dan Goldwasser Travel

My grandpa passed away, so I’m off to Ft. Lauderdale tonight (red eye flight) so I can attend tomorrow’s funeral service. Then I’ll fly back with my family to Boston tomorrow night, for the burial on Friday. I’ll be back in Los Angeles on Sunday night, so everything is now pretty much on hold until I get back.

Wedding

Dan Goldwasser Travel

Grant and Chanel’s wedding was a lovely event, held at the clubhouse on a golf course in the foothills overlooking the Scottsdale/Phoenix valley. It was a secular wedding, but very moving, and the reception afterwards was quite lovely as well. It was great seeing all the relatives and cousins, and after the cake was served, we headed back home, around 11:30pm, konked out from a long day.

Tempe

Dan Goldwasser Travel

Woke up at 8am, and went to breakfast with my mom, grandma, great aunt and great uncles. On the way there, we passed some interesting rock formations (this whole area used to be an underwater sea bed), which my grandmother lovingly referred to as “a giant pile of turds”. Heh. Later in the day, I took the rental car and drove down to Tempe to meet a friend for lunch. The drive took about 45 minutes longer than expected due …

Carefree

Dan Goldwasser Travel

Woke up early today, around 6:30am, and then by 8am I was at Terminal 1 at LAX, going to the gate where I would be taking a flight to Phoenix. By 11:15, I was on the ground in Maricopa County, and met up with my mom and grandma. We then got the rental car, and picked up my great-uncle who was arriving from Kansas City. An hour later, we were in Carefree, Arizona, where we were staying for my cousin’s …
